Open JC is a local, woman and minority-owned, social enterprise whose mission is to improve the quality of life for residents through technology-driven solutions.
Made in Jersey City, our goal is to create, implement and manage self-sustainable civic programs that impact communities through the intertwining of technology, community engagement and partnerships.
Committed to community development, our primary focus covers improving the efficiency of key government departments, and implement technology solutions that solve existing community issues. Our holistic approach also aims to increase career preparedness of youth and adults for employment and entrepreneurship.
A ‘smart’ crime alert system for Jersey City residents created in partnership with the City of Jersey City and Google Ideas. Through this pilot program, residents will receive public safety messages on their mobile devices based on crime trends spotted in the Jersey City Police Department’s 911 dispatch call data.
A program of Open JC and a Code for America brigade, this hands-on active local community volunteer group collaborates with the Jersey City Government to build open data, open source and open government. Members believe in public sector innovation and the value of digital-government projects.
Open JC is a sponsor of both the Winter and Summer 2015 Youth Assembly at the United Nations (YA@UN). YA@UN is a unique platform created to foster dialogue and generate partnerships between exceptional youth, UN high officials and staff, private sector, and civil society.
